Resumen

A promoter is described. The promoter comprises a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1 or a variant, homologue or derivative thereof.

CLAIMS 1. 1. A promoter comprising a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1 or a variant, homologue, fragment or derivative thereof. 2. A promoter having a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1 or a variant, homologue, fragment or derivative thereof. 3. A promoter comprising a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1. 4. A promoter having a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1. 5. A promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the promoter is operably linked to a NOI. 6. A construct comprising the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 4 operably linked (for example fused) to a NOI. 7. An expression vector comprising the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 5. 8. A transformation vector comprising the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 5. 9. A transformed organism comprising the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 5 or the invention of any one of claims 6 to 9. 10. A transformed organism according to claim 9 wherein the organism is a fungus. 11. A transformed organism according to claim 9 wherein the organism is a filamentous fungus. 12. A transformed organism according to claim 9 wherein the organism is a thermophilic fungus. 13. A transformed organism according to claim 9 wherein the organism is Thermomyces lanuginosus. 14. 14. A transformed Thermomyces lanuginosus comprising a promoter comprising a nucleotide sequence corresponding to that shown as SEQ ID No. 1 or a variant, homologue, fragment or derivative thereof. 15. A method of preparing a POI, the method comprising expressing an NOI which encodes at least a part of the POI, wherein the NOI is operably linked to a promoter, optionally isolating and/or purifying the expression product of the NOI, forming the POI if the expression product of the NOI is not all of the POI, optionally isolating and/or purifying the POI; wherein the promoter is the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 4. 16. A method according to claim 16 wherein the NOI codes for all of the POI. 17. A plasmid selected from any one of: pSEK17, pSEK18, pSEK25, pSEK33, pSEK34. 18. A promoter sequence obtainable from Deposit No. NCIMB 40989. 19. A process for transforming Thermomyces lanuginosus comprising contacting germinated spores of Thermomyces lanuginosus with lithium acetate. 20. A transformed Thermomyces lanuginosus comprising any one or more of: an NOI, the promoter according to any one of claims 1 to 4, a trpC terminator, and the ble gene or a fragment thereof capable of imparting resistance to phleomycin.
