The invention relates to an automatic system for capturing multispectral images (10) in order to digitalise an object (11), including a platform (1) for receiving an object (11) to be scanned; a robot movement unit (4) for moving inside a volume of space where a plurality of regions of the object (11) are scanned; an illumination unit (3) for emitting light with a frequency of a selectable spectral range; a unit for capturing images (5) mounted on the robot movement unit (4); a processing unit (2) for the coordinated controlling of the robot movement unit (4) and the image-capturing unit (5), and for defining a scanning route and a plurality of capturing stops, wherein the processing unit (2) is also configured for labelling and storing the captured images of each region of the object with at least spectral and spatial location information.
