Movement sensor for shock absorber. A sensor based on electro-optical principles for measuring the relative movement of suspended mass to non-suspended mass of a vehicle. This measurement is made by measuring the relative distance between the bottom and the end of a telescopic shock absorber's piston (0) (bi-tube or mono-tube). The sensor includes a sending element (2) facing a detecting element (1), and an associated electric box (3) to fuel these elements and to condition the signal. The sensor works with a single 12-volt feed of continuous current (4) and provides an analog release (5) ranging from 0 to 10 volts. The measurement provided by the sensor is useful for controlling active and semi-active suspensions. Another possible application of the sensor could be to measure the relative movement in pneumatic devices.<IMAGE
