Resumen

[0001] The litter is comprised of: (a) an absorbent porous granular solid comprised of sepiolite with a granulometric particle size distribution comprised between 6 and 60 ASTM mesh and an apparent density between 400 and 800 g/l; (b) a polymer or mixture of absorbent polymers, chosen from among cellulose and starch derivatives, gums coming from algae, plants or microorganisms, polysaccharides, seed oils and animal glue, in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by weight with regard to (a). [0002] The litter is used to collect excrements and solids of pets, especially, cats.

Reivindicaciones

1. New absorbent animal litter comprised of sepiolite, characterized in that it is comprised of a homogenous mixture of: a) an absorbent porous granular solid comprised of sepiolites or sepiolite clays with variable contents of other mineral types selected among smectite, calcite, quartz, feldspar and dolomite, with a grain size granulometric distribution between 60 and 60 ASTM mesh and an apparent density between 400 and 800 g/l; b) a polymer or mixture of absorbent polymers, activable in water of plant or animal origin, selected among cellulose and starch derivatives, gums coming from algae, plants or microorganism, polysaccharides and derivatives thereof, seed oils and animal glues; the amount of polymer in relation to component (a) being 0.1 to 10% by weight. 2. Process for the preparation of the litter of claim 1, characterized in that it comprises: (i) dry mixing the absorbent polymer activable in water (b) in the cited amount with the porous granular sepiolite solid (a) until the perfect homogenization thereof, or else (ii) spraying a liquid suspension of polymer (b) on the porous granular sepiolite solid (a), homogenizing and drying.
