Resumen

[0001] This invention relates to the use of a compound of the retinoïd type particularly retinoïc acid for the preparation of a medicament capable of modulating in vivo the decoupling activity of decoupling proteins. These compounds can be used conveniently for the treatment of diseases associated to an increase or reduction of the activity of decoupling proteins. According to a preferred embodiment, the retinoïc acid will be used for the treatment of diseases associated to a reduction of the decoupling activity of the protein UCP2 such as for example obesity.

Reivindicaciones

1. Use of a retinoid-type compound, particularly retinoïc acid, for the preparation of a medicament capable of modulating in vivo the uncoupling activity of uncoupling proteins. 2. Use of a retinoid-type compound, particularly retinoïc acid, for the preparation of a medicament capable of increasing the uncoupling activity of UCP2 protein. 3. Use according to any of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said retinoid-type compounds are selected form retinoïc acids and their derivatives. 4. Use according to claim 3, characterized in that said retinoic acids are selected from 9-cis and all-trans retinoïc acids. 5. Use of retinoïc acid for preparing a medicament capable of increasing the ucoupling activity of UCP2 protein. 6. Use of a retinoid-type compound, particularly retinoïc acid, for preparing a medicament aimed to the treatment of pathologies associated to an increase or reduction of the uncoupling activity of uncoupling proteins. 7. Use according to claim 6, characterized in that said medicament is aimed to the treatment of pathologies associated to a reduction of the uncoupling activity of UCP2 protein. 8. Use according to claim 6 or 7, characterized in that said medicament is aimed to the treatment of obesity. 9. Use accorsing to any of claims 6 to 8, characterized in that said medicament is aimed to the treatment of physiological disorders or diseases linked to obesity. 10. Use according to claim 7, characterized in that said medicament is particularly aimed to the treatment of diseases affecting the metabolic situation in general. 11. Use according to claim 10, characterized in that said disease is particularly selected between different forms of diabetes, hyperinsulinaemia, glucose intolerance, X-syndrome or cardiovascular diseases. 12. Use according to claim 7, characterized in that said medicament is aimed to the treatment of pathologies affecting the metabolism of oxygen or diseases of the immune system. 13. Use of a retinoid-type compound, particularly retinoïc acid, for the preparation of a medicament aimed to the treatment of pathologies associated to the regulation of energy consumption. 14. Use of a retinoid-type compound, particularly retinoïc acid, for controlling the energetic balance of a human animal or plant. 15. Use according to one of claims 6 to 14, characterized in that said retinoid-type compound is selected from retinoïc acids and their derivatives. 16. Use according to claim 15, characterized in that said retinoïc acids are selected from 9-cis and all-trans retinoïc acids. 17. Use of retinoïc acid for the preparation of a medicament aimed to the treatment of obesity.
