Resumen
The invention relates to a light detection method and system which can also be used simultaneously to determine the polarisation angle of the incident light with high sensitivity. More specifically, the contrast obtained for signals linearly polarised with orthogonal polarisations is only limited by detectivity. The invention is based on solid state devices or materials having dichroic properties in a pre-determined energy range. The system can also be used for passband detection. The invention comprises multiple modules: (a) a module formed by devices sensitive to light polarisation, (b) a differential amplification module requiring an angle reference and an amplitude reference, and (c) a signal processing module. The detection system can be used in magneto-optical recording, fluorescence, image formation, spectrally selective detection and optical communications.
