Compositions which contain di(C1-C6)alkyl ketone peroxide for the preservation of organic tissues, and application of said compositions in the preservation and anatomical preparation of organic tissues of animal or human origin. The compositions for the preservation of organic tissues consist of a mixture of 20 to 70% of at least one di(C1- C6)alkyl ketone peroxide, 10 to 15% of a glycerine, 15 to 70% of at least one alcohol and, optionally, 0 to 10% of a complementary colouring or flavouring agent. These compositions can be mixed with other suitable agents or diluents, and are applied especially in the preservation of any class of tissues of human or animal origin, preferably by embalming or immersion.
