Method and system for non-invasive characterization of human and animal tissues in vivo. We describe a method of in vivo analysis of animal or human tissue, to determine the chemical composition and characteristics thereof, which combines a rapid scanning of diffuse optics and a precise raman scan allowing the biochemical exploration of a large area in a short space of time.
